'The World Made a Rainbow' 

 

We celebrated World Book Day 2021 with learning round our focus book The World Made a Rainbow. The picture book tells the tale of a little girl who documented her feelings and how she created a rainbow over lockdown; something most children could relate to! We had a fabulous day, both from home and in school. We dressed up in rainbow colours and some of our favourite storybook characters and enjoyed writing poetry with colours as our stimulus, creating artwork, writing letters and singing songs. We especially enjoyed our special masked reader quiz where we watched the videos of staff members reading their favourite stories and using the clues had to decide who was who. Leading on from all of our fabulous World Book Day learning we buried some special pieces in our own covid time capsule on the school grounds to unearth in 30 years so children in 2051 can learn about what lockdown life was like for us all.
