To support their Science learning on the topic of 'plants', the children in Year 3 visited RHS Bridgewater. Tis fun and engaging trip brought their learning to life as they were able to explore nature for themselves. First on the agenda was the Exploring Plants workshop. The children demonstrated their knowledge and understanding of the parts of the plant and their purpose as well as being dynamic learners and investigating different seeds that use different methods of seed dispersal. Furthermore, they planted pea shoot seeds and discussed the best place to position them, linking to an experiment they had previously carried out in school where they found out that space, water and sunlight is needed for the best growth conditions.
One highlight of the day was the opportunity to complete some sketching when they were exploring the new Chinese Streamside Garden. Not only was it wonderful to see the different aspects of nature, it was very relaxing to be outside and practise some mindfulness.
All the Year 3 children were excellent high performance learners during their time at RHS Bridgewater and demonstrated our Chapelford values of being dynamic, open minded and good listeners to a high standard. Well done Year 3!
