Exciting new developments in and around our school
The addition of new play equipment and outdoor learning areas has provided our pupils with even more opportunities for exploration and creativity. This year, the school grounds have been transformed into a vibrant and stimulating environment where children can learn and play in a safe and nurturing space. The OPAL program has been a huge success, with children participating in a range of outdoor activities and games that promote physical activity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. The new zones that have opened up have allowed for even more diverse and engaging activities, allowing children to continue to develop their social and emotional skills while having fun. As well as the opening of the sandpit and mud kitchen, there are new seating areas, planters, giant easels and a storytelling circle for children to enjoy.
The Eco-Team have been planting flowers, herbs, and vegetables, and learning about how to take care of the plants. This hands-on experience has not only taught them about the natural world but has also instilled a sense of responsibility and ownership over their environment.
Outside of school, the children have been very excited about the opening of the pump track on Dakota Park. The pump track is a great addition to the park and provides a fun and safe environment for children of all ages to enjoy riding their bikes, scooters, or skateboards.
Our OPAL ambassadors were invited to the official opening. They have been spreading the word about the pump track and encouraging their friends to come and try it out. They have also been reminding everyone about the importance of wearing helmets and pads while using the track, as well as being mindful of other users and following the rules to ensure everyone can have a great time.
Overall, the new pump track has been a huge success, and it has brought the community together in a positive way. It is a fantastic addition to Dakota Park, and we are excited to see children continue to enjoy and benefit from this new facility for years to come.
Cllr Paul Warburton said, "Thank You to the school and especially the pupils for supporting the official opening of the Pump Track! They were all great ambassadors for the school - & very patient with the photos! It was great to see them using the track and to hear how much they have enjoyed using it since it was finished last month - one pupil said that she now cycles to school so that she can use the track after school!"
