We are thrilled to update you on the incredible work being done by our Eco Team, under the guidance of Mrs. Bower, our enthusiastic Science lead. This dedicated group of children is committed to making Chapelford an eco-friendlier school, and they are already making a significant impact!

Mrs. Bower meets with the Eco Team to discuss our shared vision to be a school that is aware of the importance sustainability and how we can protect the environment. As a large school, we recognise the vital role we play in caring for our local environment and the broader community.

The Eco Team has made remarkable progress since they first met as a team last year. They have organised successful litter-picking activities, helping to keep our school grounds clean and promote environmental awareness. Additionally, they have planted vibrant flowers around the school, creating a welcoming space for wildlife and enhancing our green areas. Their commitment to these projects showcases their seriousness as ambassadors for protecting and enhancing our environment.

This week, as you may have seen on our Facebook page, the Eco Team celebrated a successful harvest of produce grown in our school planters. The excitement on the children’s faces while picking beetroot was truly heartwarming! They are eagerly anticipating harvesting more home-grown vegetables, including onions, spinach, and lettuce. At their next meeting, they will be researching which fruit and vegetables are best to grow in the up-coming months.

Next week, the Eco Team is set to launch their new initiative, "Cut Your Carbon”. They will be delivering key messages in our school assemblies to raise awareness about carbon footprints and encourage everyone to adopt greener habits. We are excited to see them talk about something they are passionate about and will share their messages with you.

We invite you to support the Eco Team in their efforts and encourage conversations about sustainability at home. Together, we can cultivate a culture of environmental responsibility that will benefit our children and their families and, most importantly, the planet.
