Last week our school was buzzing with energy and excitement as we embraced the value of helpfulness. Our children have demonstrated how they can make a difference in both the local and global community, learning, creating, and having fun along the way!

RSPCA Workshops and Assembly

Our Eco Team has been hard at work this term, and last week they had the wonderful opportunity to join an RSPCA workshop all about protecting wildlife, particularly hedgehogs. The children learned about how they can help care for these amazing creatures that visit our gardens, and then they got creative by making their own hedgehogs using clay and spaghetti for spikes!

In addition, the whole school enjoyed a special RSPCA assembly, where we heard from a guest speaker who works for the RSPCA. She shared tips on how we can protect local wildlife and how we all have a responsibility to help care for the world around us. It was a fantastic opportunity to learn about the importance of kindness and care for animals and the environment.

Red Nose Day Fun!

Last Friday saw us coming together as a school to celebrate Red Nose Day in the most colourful and creative way! Our school community came together to raise money for a great cause, and it was amazing to see everyone’s red accessories! From classic red noses to red socks, bandanas, and hairbands – the creativity was endless!

The School Council did an excellent job organising the day’s activities, and their efforts brought the whole school together for a day of laughter and fun. The highlight was the 40-minute comedy school, where each year group had the chance to perform jokes and comedy sketches they had created in their spelling lessons. The children’s jokes, particularly homophone jokes, had everyone laughing, and it was a true celebration of fun and creativity.

The Big 40 Challenge and Red-Nose-It-All Quiz

During lunch, the Big 40 Challenge took over the MUGA, where children participated in 40-themed active challenges, promoting teamwork and physical activity. Miss Searle did an excellent job organising the challenges, and we are so proud of the effort everyone put in!

The Red-Nose-It-All Quiz ran throughout lunchtime, and children had the chance to test their knowledge and enjoy some friendly competition, with the School Council running the event and keeping the fun going.

Independent Activities and Creative Competitions

Outside of these fun events, the children were invited to take part in some independent activities to show their creativity. They worked on creating and rehearsing their own comedy sketches and jokes, and many children performed these during the Year Group Comedy School! The laughs and joy were contagious, and we awarded house points to those who brought the most fun and laughter to the day.

Additionally, we held a self-portrait competition, where children designed their own signed self-portrait wearing a red nose. The School Council will be judging these fantastic entries, and we’re excited to see the creativity and talent on display! Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each year group will be awarded.

This has been a wonderful example of how our children embrace the value of helpfulness. They have shown kindness and care for animals, supported an important charity, and taken responsibility for making a positive impact in their community. At Chapelford, we believe that learning goes beyond the classroom, and it's through activities like these that our children develop into responsible, compassionate individuals who care about the world around them.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this week such a success – from the School Council’s leadership to the Eco Team’s dedication and the support of our fantastic staff. We can’t wait to see what our children accomplish next!
