As we reach the end of what has been a short but very busy half term, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on the incredible learning and enrichment opportunities our children have enjoyed. It’s been lovely to finally see the sunshine and take some of our learning outdoors—there’s nothing quite like fresh air to inspire curious minds!

Here’s a snapshot of what each year group has been up to:

EYFS
We can't quite believe how quickly this year is going! Our youngest children are growing into confident, happy learners, and we couldn’t be prouder of them. This half term, they were captivated by the arrival of ducklings and have been learning all about life cycles—from wriggling caterpillars to growing tomatoes! We’re especially excited to see them preparing to graduate from EYFS and begin joining in with OPAL playtimes next half term.

Year 1
Year 1 had a very special visitor—Alfie the tortoise! He sparked imaginations in English lessons, where children wrote creatively about what Alfie might need to survive in space! Alongside this, their confidence in phonics and reading continues to grow, and we know they’ll shine in the upcoming Phonics Screening Check.

Year 2
It’s been a hands-on half term in Year 2, with a visit from Del who brought the Great Fire of London to life! The children loved dressing up and acting out historical events. They also completed their end-of-key-stage assessments with resilience and focus—we are so proud of their effort and determination.

Year 3
Year 3 have continued building their musical skills with the clarineo and are developing an impressive repertoire. In English, they channelled their inner directors and created book trailers, stepping into the shoes of Steven Spielberg to bring their favourite stories to life!

Year 4
Year 4 have been working hard ahead of their upcoming multiplication check, and their commitment to mastering all 12 times tables is commendable. They also explored Ancient Egypt in an exciting and immersive way using VR headsets—bringing history to life like never before!

Year 5
The highlight of the half term for Year 5 was their fantastic residential to Llandudno. From exploring coastal landscapes to venturing down the mines, the children made unforgettable memories. As they return, focus now turns to their transition into Year 6—a big and exciting next step.

Year 6
While SATs have been the focus this half term, Year 6 have also embraced a wide range of learning opportunities, including orienteering and collaborative challenges. With just one half term left, we’re looking forward to the final stretch of their primary journey—filled with performances, trips, and celebrations.

Looking ahead, Summer 2 promises to be packed with exciting events—sports days, performances, parent evenings and more! Please check today’s full newsletter for key information and important diary dates. We are also working hard behind the scenes to support every child with a smooth and positive transition into their next year group, including opportunities to meet their new teachers.

Thank you for your continued support. We hope you have a restful and happy half term break. We look forward to welcoming the children back on Monday 2nd June.
