Year 5 Residential Trip to Llandudno – A Week to Remember!

This week, our Year 5 children embarked on a truly special adventure as each class took part in our much-loved residential trip to Llandudno. With each group spending a day and a night by the coast, the children have had a fantastic time exploring new surroundings, making memories, and deepening friendships.

Llandudno is a highlight in our school calendar—not just for the fun and freedom it offers, but for the rich learning experiences it provides across the wider curriculum. From sketching coastal landscapes and studying natural features in geography, to exploring the town’s history and culture, the trip brings learning to life in the most exciting and memorable way.

Day one saw the children visit the Welsh Mountain Zoo and unwinding on the beach—digging in the sand, collecting shells, playing games, drawing, and simply enjoying the fresh sea air. There’s something truly wonderful about watching our pupils so relaxed and joyful, surrounded by nature and friends.

Day two was all about adventure! After breakfast, the children walked through the town to board the famous Great Orme Tramway. Their expressions of awe and wonder as they reached the summit and took in the panoramic views were simply priceless. The excitement continued with a journey down into the ancient copper mines. Equipped with helmets, they explored the winding tunnels, learning about the history beneath their feet.

Despite the action-packed day, the children always seem to find a final burst of energy for one last beach play before heading off to McDonald's for a well-earned tea—a perfect way to round off an incredible couple of days.

Each class approached every part of the trip with enthusiasm, positivity, and fearlessness. Our children were an absolute credit to the school—many members of the public commented on their excellent behaviour, kindness, and respect for the environment.

We are immensely proud of them all. A huge well done to every child for making this such a special week, and an enormous thank you to the dedicated staff who made the trip possible by giving up their time to support and care for the children.

It’s been a week filled with laughter, learning, and life-long memories.
