Healthy Schools Week: Building Healthy Habits for Life

This week, children across the school took part in Healthy Schools Week, learning all about what it means to be healthy — both in body and in mind. From the power of positive thinking and looking after our mental wellbeing to learning about dental hygiene and why sleep is so important, the key message was clear: being healthy is all about finding a good balance of everything.
Of course, physical activity was a key part of the week! A big thank you to Mr Capper, Mrs Hadley, Miss Searle, and Mrs Astley for leading exciting, active sessions that had everyone up on their feet and moving. Each session was centered around an enquiry question, encouraging pupils to make meaningful links between their experiences and the wider world. This is a brilliant demonstration of our school and HPL values such as curiosity, self-regulation, and resilience in action.
To round off the week, children thought about small, positive changes they could make to look after their own health and made a promise to themselves. This could have been anything from getting a bit more rest to taking a few quiet moments to relax and recharge.
With the sun shining and the school full of energy, it really was a brilliant week full of learning, fun, and new ideas. To see more photos from the week’s activities, head over to our Facebook page!
To help keep those healthy habits going at home, we’ve also included some simple tips for staying active and well as a family — because it’s always easier (and more fun!) when we do it together.
