This week marked a powerful moment in pupil voice at Chapelford Village Primary as we elected and announced our brand new 2025–2026 School Council!
After a busy week filled with thoughtful speeches, passionate campaigning and democratic voting, pupils from Years 2 to 6 cast their votes and made their voices heard. Now, we’re proud to announce that the new council is ready to represent the views of all children across the school!
But first, we want to say a massive WELL DONE to every pupil who stood up and put themselves forward. It’s not easy to speak in front of your peers but so many of you demonstrated fearlessness, confidence and a commitment to making your school even better. You should be incredibly proud.
So… What Is the School Council?
If you're new to school council, or just want a refresher, here's what it's all about.
The School Council is here to:
  • Represent YOUR voice.
  • Bring YOUR ideas to life.
  • Help make Chapelford the best it can be for EVERYONE.
Each class from Year 2 to Year 6 has voted for a representative who will attend regular meetings with Mrs Astley. During these sessions, they’ll:
  • Share ideas and concerns from classmates.
  • Decide on projects or improvements.
  • Help lead exciting initiatives — from fundraising to school events and beyond!
The Role of a School Council Member
Our new council members will step into an exciting and important role that includes:
1. Leadership
  • Be a role model for the school.
  • Represent Chapelford in and beyond the classroom.
2. Communication
  • Speak confidently to your class and the wider school.
  • Gather and share feedback clearly.
3. Representation
  • Make sure every pupil feels heard and valued.
4. Supporting School Events
  • Help plan and run key school activities like charity days and open evenings.
5. Building Community
  • Promote kindness, respect, and school spirit.
6. Decision-Making
  • Be part of discussions that shape our school experience.
School Council vs. School Ambassadors: What’s the Difference?
  • School Council members are elected by pupils to represent children’s voices.
  • School Ambassadors are chosen by teachers to represent the school at events and in the community.
Both roles are vital and both show how incredible our Chapelford pupils truly are.
Meet Your 2025–2026 School Council!
